About Dale
Dale Biron, dynamic speaker, teacher, poet, martial artist, coach and consultant, is equally at home inside the worlds of business, poetry, and the martial arts. Dale believes deeply in the power of world class poetry and stories to support and enhance lives, particularly in the critical areas of change and transition. Dale believes that great poems and stories teach and actually embody the perennial lessons of leadership and life: that all things are connected and constantly changing; that awareness is curative; that big change and big goals require big language; that truth demands we leave nothing out, that we integrate the most difficult, shadowed and fierce parts of ourselves and life, right along side the most hopeful, uplifting and sublime.
In group settings, Dale uses the bold and provocative language of poetry in highly precise ways. His goal is to unpack and clarify such complex topics as change and transition, creativity and leadership, loss and healing. From contemporary Pulitzer Prize winning poets like Mary Oliver and Seamus Heaney, to such historical giants as William Stafford, Goethe, Neruda, and Rilke, each poem is carefully selected for its unique, joyful and often heartfelt and humorous qualities. Combining insightful commentary with each poem, Dale helps us understand more clearly the nature of our increasingly complex world.
Growing up in North Carolina, under the eye of a New England bred father who read voraciously and a southern born mother who loved great literature and read Latin, Dale’s attraction to powerful language was predestined. Those first twenty four years growing up in the south are still deeply etched into Dale’s psyche and sensibilities. In addition to his love for, and work with poetry, Dale has integrated years of passionate study and practice in coaching, systems theory, psychology, philosophy, political science and the martial art of Aikido, in which he holds the rank of Black Belt. As Dale says, each of these domains (and especially poetry) provide dependable tools for making ourselves more whole and integrated, each offering tools for our never ending task of staying more aware and awake in the world. With regard to his coaching and consulting work, Dale is co-founder and Principal of Core Action Assoc. Inc., a change management company that coaches leaders, teams, and whole organizations. Dale is also Poetry Editor at Large for A Network for Grateful Living and is a former board member of the Marin Poetry Center.
